Profile:
Founded in 1973, the School of Dental Medicine
at Stony Brook has established itself as a stellar
institution of dental education and practice. The
school offers the D.D.S. Degree, in addition to
postdoctoral education in orthodontics, periodontics,
and advanced education in general dentistry. The
school's the Dental Care Center is the largest dental
care treatment facility on Long Island. Thus,
clinical training is strong, as is training in the
basic sciences: dental students and medical students
take the same courses in anatomy, biochemistry,
microbiology, pathology, pharmacology and
physiology.

Admissions Requirements:
Applicants are required to have completed two
years of college before matriculation; it is highly
desirable that applicants possess a baccalaureate
degree. The undergraduate program of study must
include: one year of the following introductory
courses (including laboratories):
General Biology w/lab - 8
Semester Units
Inorganic Chemistry w/lab -
6-8 Semester Units
Organic Chemistry w/lab - 6-8
Semester Units
General Physics w/lab - 6-8
Semester Units
Mathematics - 8 Semester
Units
Applicants are advised to take the DAT no later
than October of the academic year before
matriculating.
