Profile:
The University of British Columbia Faculty of Dentistry offers a 4-year Doctor of Dental Medicine program. The school is noted for its focus on dental research and includes some of the most advanced research facilities in Canada. UBC also offers combined programs for DMD-MSc and DMD-PhD.

The first two years of the dental curriculum is administered jointly with the Faculty of Medicine. It includes comprehensive instruction in the basic sciences. Dental-specific courses and clinical experiences are introduced in the second half of the second year. The UBC program is case-based and includes rigorous clinical experiences in the fourth year in hospital and provincial clinic settings.

The school is located in stunning Vancouver and offers all the amenities and diversity of a world-class university. The city of Vancouver provides students with a full range of recreational, cultural, and professional opportunities. As with any major city, the cost of living can be expensive.

Admissions Requirements:
Applicants to the Faculty of Dentistry must have completed 90 semester hours of college-level education. Specific college academic requirements include:

  Biology - 6 credit hours
  General Chemistry - 6 credit hours
  Organic Chemistry - 6 credit hours
  Physics - 6 credit hours
  Biochemistry - 6 credit hours
  Mathematics - 6 credit hours
  English - 6 credit hours

Applicants are encouraged to take electives such as psychology and biochemistry.

Students can apply through the Canadian Dental Association. Applicants must submit academic transcripts, a score on the Canadian DAT, and three letters of recommendation. For more information contact the Canadian Dental Association or the school directly. Competitive applicants will be called for interviews.

Provincial residents are given high priority in the admissions process. Remaining spaces are extremely competitive. Applicants from the USA are treated as international students and must meet all deadlines and requirements for international applications.
